The Region
• Delimited area - “The Jerez triangle”: Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa, Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
• Other areas included in the “Production area”: Chipiona, Trebujena, Rota, Puerto Real, Chiclana and Lebrija.
• The total production area has been changing along the years - today: 10.500 hectars.
The “albariza” soil
• White soil (alba), form by seaweed sediments.
• High calcium carbonate content, with limestone levels ranging from 25% to 40%.
• Low contents of orçganic components (from 1,3% to 1,5%) and nitrogen.
• High porosity which leads to the preservation of humidity.
